About Us
Why We Started
In the early 2000s, the events of September 11th didn't just change the country. They changed the retirement landscape for law enforcement overnight. Pension structures were altered, and officers who had spent years building toward a secure future suddenly found themselves without the plan they had counted on. We lived that.
Rather than accept it, we started learning. We studied the financial industry not as a career pivot, but as a survival strategy. We needed to understand how to retire with dignity on a public servant's income, and once we figured it out, we couldn't stop thinking about how many others needed the same answers.
AWard and Associates was founded in 2016, while still actively serving in law enforcement, with a focus on debt reduction and life insurance. In 2023, with the official retirement from the force, we expanded the firm to offer a fuller range of financial services. Every step of that growth has been driven by the same question: what do the people we serve actually need, and how do we help them get there?
What Guides Us
Our faith is the foundation of how we operate. It shapes the way we treat people, the honesty we bring to every conversation, and the commitment we make when someone chooses to work with us. We don't take that lightly.
We are also a military family. Between law enforcement and military service, we understand sacrifice, structure, and the kind of discipline it takes to plan for a future that feels far away when the present demands so much of you.
A Clear Path From Where You Are to Where You Want to Be
Education is not a side offering here. It is the whole point. When someone works with us, they leave every meeting understanding more than when they walked in. We explain the why behind every recommendation, because a client who understands their plan is a client who can stick to it.
We meet with our clients regularly, and we know them by name, by situation, and by what they are working toward. First responders, teachers, nurses, military families, and everyone in between: we have either walked in your shoes or walked alongside someone who has. We know the specific financial challenges your career creates, and we know what a real plan for your future looks like.
We built our firm because we needed it to exist. We built what we wish we had.
